The stomping feet, shaking knees and expressive singing of several hundred children were all part of another successful day at Polyfest in Dunedin yesterday.

Festival trustee and co-chairwoman Pip Laufiso said more than 800 pupils from early childhood centres and primary schools performed at the Otago Early Childhood and Schools' Maori and Pacific Island Festival at the Edgar Centre yesterday.

Little Citizens pupils roared like tigers before starting a singing session, including a good serving of knee slapping.

A Kaikorai Kindergarten pupil entertained the crowd by executing some freestyle dance moves and bottom-shuffling across the stage.

A St Clair Corner Early Learning Centre singer forgot the lyrics and instead yelled ''Mummy'' into the microphone, acknowledging a fan in the crowd.

Ms Laufiso said the festival had been going well.

''So far, so good - it's been great.''

The four-day festival continues today and finishes tomorrow.
