Mosgiel man dies after crash

A Mosgiel man died after being trapped in a vehicle following a collision on the outskirts of the town yesterday.

Desmond Rodney Bryant (73) and a male passenger were in a Suzuki car which was towing an empty horse float.

It was involved in a collision with a Volkswagen 4WD utility vehicle, driven by a 59-year-old Dunedin man.

Mr Bryant was trapped for 45 minutes, as firefighters worked to cut open the wreckage.

St John staff tended to him at the scene.

He was rushed to Dunedin Hospital, where he died shortly after.
