Zoologist and honorary curator of entomology at Tūhura Otago Museum, Anthony (Tony) Harris, has died.

Mr Harris died peacefully at home on Friday.

He had a more than 40-year career at the museum, collecting, studying and describing New Zealand’s insect species.

He also wrote a weekly, natural history article for the Otago Daily Times, called Nature File, for many years.
