A Royal New Zealand Navy helicopter prepares to land at King's High School in Dunedin yesterday on a promotional tour highlighting Defence Force careers.
The SH-2G(I) Seasprite visited Taieri College, Tokomairiro High School, Otago Boys' High School and King's High School, where personnel answered questions about the aircraft and their careers.
Among its crew was former King's High School pupil Leading Aircraftman Anthony Mackintosh, who said it was ''awesome'' to be back on school grounds and inspiring young minds.
''I did an aviation course while at King's and became motivated to enter the air force.
''Some of these boys will be the next generation of personnel.
''They just need to do their research, train hard, and go for it.''
The helicopter and its crew will visit four schools in Invercargill tomorrow.
