The former Donald Reid Store on Cumberland St, Dunedin, is shrouded in scaffolding.

Dunedin-based high tech company ADInstruments has bought the historic building in Dunedin's warehouse precinct and is refurbishing it.

It is intended about 40 employees will move in to the building by March next year.

The project is expected to bring new life to the central city warehouse area, which is envisaged by the Dunedin City Council as a vibrant hub of apartments, cafes, bars, restaurants, creative businesses and office space.

ADInstruments designs and sells data acquisition and analysis systems.

Its products are used at Oxford and Cambridge Universities, the University of Otago and institutions around the world.
