New name, same great service

The Green Street Early Learning Centre is celebrating a new name.

The organisation has been in operation for 25 years after it was initially set up for Taieri High School (now Taieri College) teachers.

Senior office administrator Carole Stewart said since then it had flourished into the thriving centre that it now was.

The centre recently made the decision to change its name from Green Street Early Childhood Centre to Early Learning Centre as the word ''learning'' better described the educational environment offered to the children, she said.

Despite cold conditions on Monday, the centre hosted a community morning tea to celebrate the new name and to launch a new website.

Dunedin South MP Clare Curran braved the snowy weather to support the centre.
