No art, no exhibition

An art exhibition turned into a no show in Dunedin last week.

A carton containing Christchurch artist Celia Wilson's ''Colours from a Landscape'' exhibition went missing from the Blue Oyster Gallery in Moray Pl last Thursday.

''It was left outside the gallery in a wine box and we're wondering if someone might have mistaken it for a case of wine,'' gallery director Jamie Hanton said yesterday.

''It had three irreplaceable artist work books in it, which the artist would love to get back.''

The carton also included 19 bottles of paint pigment for the exhibition, which is scheduled to open in the Dunedin Botanic Garden information centre on August 3.

The theft had been reported to police, but the carton could be dropped off at the Blue Oyster Gallery ''no questions asked'', Mr Hanton said.
