Offer made for Mosgiel plant

The Fisher and Paykel manufacturing plant near Mosgiel may soon have a new owner.

An offer had been been received from one party, industrial broker John Lyttle, of Colliers International, said yesterday.

He could not say if or when a sale and purchase agreement might be reached.

The 16.5ha North Taieri property, which had a rateable value of $23 million, includes workshops, warehousing, offices, a social room and training areas.

Fisher and Paykel Appliances put it on the market two months ago after announcing manufacturing would cease in March next year with the loss of 430 jobs.

The company is looking for premises in Dunedin where it can relocate up to 90 engineering research and design staff and establish a 40-person global call centre.
