Officers play Mr Rice Guy

Dunedin police officers paid for a snack for four teenagers after they were caught trying to steal sushi from a supermarket yesterday.

Acting Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond said police were called to Pak'n Save in South Dunedin where four 17-year-olds were caught trying to steal some sushi, about 5.30pm.

The officers paid for the food out of their own pocket "so that they could eat it" but issued the teens with a trespass notice.

No further action was taken, he said.
