Council corporate services general manager Nick Donnelly said of the $26,786,278 in rates due last year, $1,347,965.86 was still owing.
Of that total, $530,197 would be paid in the final direct debit payment on June 30.
The remaining rates due were 3.05% of the rates balance, he said.
''Our direct debit rates payment system allows people to pay their rates across three equal instalments in October, February and June, without any late payment penalties.''
The balance of outstanding rates from previous years was $426,143.
Ratepayers will receive their invoices for the coming year in August.
