The bridge was damaged by a container wagon on February 12, cutting access across the railway lines and meaning a longer walk for commuters who park near the harbour.
Dunedin City Council transportation operations manager Mike Costelloe said yesterday he was in the process of choosing a tenderer from companies selected for the task, and expected that process to be completed next week.
He hoped the bridge would be finished by late August or early September.
The repair work, expected to cost up to $225,000, will return the bridge to near its original condition by re-using large parts of the original structure, including pieces which were torn off the bridge and have been in storage.
