All but one position on the Primary Health Organisation (PHO) transition board had been filled, chairman Dr Conway Powell announced yesterday.
Eight members of the nine-member transition board, which will set up a single PHO across Otago and Southland, had been appointed, with only the Maori representative to be announced, he said.
Dr Powell was appointed last week.
He will be joined by Stuart Heal, Bernie McKone, Dr Doug Hill, Prof Murray Tilyard, Kirsty Murrell-McMillan, Mark Crawford and Norman Elder.
It had been "very challenging" to select the seven candidates from the 20 nominations received, he said.
The candidates were selected to establish the new PHO, with the board set to hand over governance by mid-2010 - when the new representative board has been created.
The new board reflected a good mix of groups, with people from Otago and Southland, rural and urban areas, and key stakeholders all represented, Dr Powell said.
The initial meeting of the board will be held next Monday in Balclutha, followed by strategy-development meetings in Invercargill on Wednesday, December 16, and Dunedin on Monday, December 21.
