Snow continues to cause disruption on Southern roads, closing SH93 from Clinton to Mataura, SH87 between Outram and Middlemarch and State Highway 94 from Te Anau to Milford Sound.
Roads throughout Southland remain icy and dangerous and police have warned people not to travel unless absolutely necessary.
