The Saddle Hill Community Board meeting on Thursday was the last of the financial year and it had about $2500 to spend in its project fund.
The board members agreed to spend $1500 on installing a picnic table in the board's area and use the remaining funds for planting at Brighton Domain.
The idea of chairman Scott Weatherall to have a picnic table installed near the rubbish bin at Kaikorai Estuary was rejected by members.
John Moyle suggested Walton Park was better because the ''dusty old'' car park at Kaikorai Estuary was unappealing as a picnic spot.
Member Jonathan Usher suggested board members find a place for the table.
''Let's go out and find a really nice place to put it,'' he said.
