Police still awaiting forensic results

Police continue to wait for the results of further forensic testing before they can confirm how a Dunedin teenager, whose body was found on his neighbour's property in April, died.

The family of James Cessford (19) had been given some indication of the circumstances of his death after initial tests were completed by Environmental Science and Research, but police had requested further tests to clarify the initial ones, Detective Senior Sergeant Steve McGregor said.

He declined to elaborate on the information already given to the family.

He hoped to get results from the extra tests within the next few weeks, but that was reliant on ESR completing the substantial number of tests requested by police, he said.
