Police have executed a search warrant in Dunedin after stolen tools were offered for sale on social media, but trade vehicles continue to be targeted by thieves.
Senior Sergeant Ben Butterfield, of Dunedin, said the warrant was executed at a Dunedin house on Friday in relation to stolen tools for sale on Facebook.
''We recovered most of them.''
No-one had been charged and police inquiries were continuing, he said.
Last week, tools were taken from trade vehicles parked on the street in Hillhead Rd, Corstorphine, Ravelston St, Tainui, and Mornington Rd, Mornington.
The ''trend of tools being targeted'' was continuing, he said.
A tool box was stolen from the deck of a ute in Forbury Rd between 5pm on Monday and 9am on Tuesday.
Inside the box was a Makita drill, an 18V battery and charger, a cork gun and six tubes of Selley's No More Gaps.
The stolen items were worth about $1200.
