Mosgiel and Green Island are eagerly anticipating their forthcoming market days, local business leaders say.

Mosgiel Business Association chairman Blair Arthur said one of the Mosgiel market's ''main attractions'' this year was having the Taieri's Got Talent competition for the second year running.

''This year, we've ... got a senior section and a junior section,'' Mr Arthur said.

''There's cash prizes for first, second, and third in each division.''

The business association was soliciting applications from Mosgiel pupils, and participants would be selected from the applicant pool, he said.

There would also be a bouncy castle and vendor stalls.

''Vendors are coming in thick and fast,'' he said.

There would also be carol singing and the Taieri rugby team would be on hand.

''We've still got to confirm if Mr and Mrs Claus will turn up.''

In Green Island, the Christmas market would be ''very much the same as what it has been other years'', Experience Hair owner Lee Cheshire said.

''It is becoming one of the biggest in ... the outer area or the suburbs [of Dunedin],'' she said.

In addition to the stalls, there would be school groups singing, busking, and a bouncy castle.

''I've been organising it for 10 years now, and I just love it, I'm dedicated to it,'' she said.

The Mosgiel market will take place on November 28th from 10-2pm.

The Green Island market will be on December 5, from 10-1pm.
