Tahuna Intermediate pupils show their appreciation during a special visit from Port To Port’s 8.8m-long trailer boat yesterday.

The children were able to board the vessel and talk to Port To Port Cruises and Wildlife Tours owner-operator Rachel McGregor about boating and oceanic wildlife.

Dunedin Wildlife Hospital manager Jordana Whyte also gave short sessions about the work of the hospital and what people could do to help wildlife.

Ms McGregor said some changes to the original plan had been necessary because of the move to Alert Level 2, but the day was a success.

"It went really well."

The sessions were streamed live to other Dunedin schools, which were unable to attend because of the restrictions, as well as to Tahuna’s sister schools in China.
