Road spikes help stop stolen car

Road spikes were successfully used to stop a 15-year old in a stolen car last night, police say.

A police spokesman said the vehicle was reported stolen from a property in Mosgiel about 11pm and was located being driven around there shortly afterwards.

Police indicated for him pull over and stop but instead he took off towards Dunedin along State Highway 1.

A chase ensued and the driver was successfully stopped by road spikes and arrested in Andersons Bay Rd about 30 minutes later.

He will appear in the Dunedin Youth Court on Thursday, May 16.
