Robbery at service station

The Dunedin CIB is investigating after a group of robbers stole cigarettes from a South Dunedin service station early yesterday.

Senior Sergeant Dave Scott described the incident, which occurred about 2.10am at Mobil Forbury in Hillside Rd, as an aggravated robbery.

The group targeted cigarettes during the raid and left the rest of the store's stock untouched.

The service station's attendant was uninjured during the robbery, Snr Sgt Scott said.

The CIB would not discuss whether a weapon was involved and was trying to ascertain further details regarding the offenders and their vehicle before making them public.

Police want to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and who might have observed any suspicious activity.

Anyone with information that can help should contact Dunedin police on 471 4800. Information can also be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
