The annual scholarship is awarded to Otago University marketing students by the food manufacturer to encourage young graduates to consider pursuing a career in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry.
Miss Acland, a third-year student who will be in the final year of her BCom (Hons) degree next year, was yesterday "very excited" about gaining the scholarship.
Through a paid internship linked to the scholarship, she will also undertake work experience at the New Zealand headquarters of the food firm for three months during the summer, enabling her to learn more about the industry.
The scholarship also provides $5000 towards tuition fees and research costs incurred during her final year of study.
The scholarship and internship programme has operated since the late 1990s.
