Carisbrook School's board of trustees has remained tight-lipped following a media report alleging $14,887 of Crown funding, earmarked for a study support centre, was used to pay for a trip to Singapore.

Serious fraud has already been ruled out as one of the issues being investigated at Carisbrook School by limited statutory manager Michael Rondel.

Earlier this week, he said there were "no allegations of any serious fraud in this investigation", and if there had been, the police would be involved.

He was appointed by the Ministry of Education late last month after calls from the school's board of trustees for help with financial management and employment processes, and will be teaming up with newly elected board of trustees chairman Justin Courtney to address the issues.

Mr Rondel arrived in Dunedin on Wednesday to begin his investigation, but has since returned to Christchurch and was unavailable for comment yesterday.

In relation to the $14,887 alleged to have been spent on an annual pupil and staff trip to Singapore, Mr Courtney said the board and Mr Rondel would not be making any comment on the allegation until a thorough investigation had been carried out.

"Mike [Rondel] has said he will look at all the costs related to the school trip, and then we'll be able to form a conclusion around it," Mr Courtney said.

"But at this stage, we're not going to jump to any conclusions until Mike has done his work."
