Seniors hold vigil for planet

A vigil for the planet organised by senior citizens attracted about 100 people to Dunedin's Octagon and St Paul's Cathedral yesterday, ahead of the international climate change negotiations in Paris next week.

Seniors Climate Action Network and vigil co-organiser Polly Mason (64) said the event was ''an encouragement to our governments [to make] the necessary changes that we need to keep the temperature [rise] below two degrees, but also to [adapt] for the changes that we're already seeing, such as the flooding, the erratic weather events; that sort of thing''.
