A large slip has closed a section of Highcliff Rd on the Otago Peninsula.
The Otago Peninsula Community Board posted about the slip on Facebook, saying the road is closed from Portobello to Pukehiki because of a slip near Seal Point Rd.
The road was impassable and contractors would be on site to clear it as soon as possible.
The closure comes on a day when continued heavy rain has closed many roads further south and led to a state of emergency being declared in Southland.
