About 150 contestants, including members of choirs, took part in the competition, which was held at the Mayfair Theatre and organised by South Dunedin MP Clare Curran and a group of volunteers.
The day-long event started at 10.30am and attracted 30 entries showing "an incredible range" of talent, including choirs and an Elvis Presley impersonator, Ms Curran said.
Several hundred people turned up to see the performers and because of the "huge" overall community support, the event would be held again next year, she said.
