Sprinkler technician Nic Aratema sweeps water from the foyer of the Chamberson Hotel on the corner of lower Stuart and Cumberland Sts after the sprinkler was accidentally set off yesterday.

Mr Aratema said he had only recently installed the sprinkler system and it looked like a contractor had accidentally hit one of the ceiling sprinklers while plastering.

Four Fire and Emergency New Zealand fire trucks were called but were not needed.

A boutique hotel is being developed inside the 108-year-old former Conservation House building.
