The polytechnic plans to spend $10 million to $12 million linking the F and H blocks and transforming the ground floor of both buildings into a ''student hub''.
The first stage - which involved fire compliance in H block - was completed in January and the polytechnic this month settled on a detailed design for the project.

For example, the concept of lakes and rivers would be evoked in the materials used in the building, he said.
The next step was for the design team to come up with detailed drawings, after which the polytechnic would call for tenders next month.
Once tenders came back, a final decision on whether to go ahead with the next stages of the project would be made at the polytechnic's August council meeting.
