Council compliance solutions manager Ros MacGill said the council had not received any noise complaints about the flock of roosters living at the Taieri Lookout on Three Mile Hill. The flock was not causing a nuisance and would be left alone by her team.
``It's not our jurisdiction to be picking them up.''
However, council recreation planning and facilities manager Jendi Paterson said even though nobody had complained about the flock, the lookout was owned by the council and a pest contractor was deployed yesterday to investigate the flock.
The contractor would assess the flock, including its potential ownership, and whether it was creating a hazard. A report on the assessment would dictate any future action taken by the council.
