Toitū Otago Settlers Museum was "train-tastic" yesterday as all the stops were pulled out to give beloved Fairlie locomotive  Josephine a 152nd birthday bash to remember.

Children and adults alike celebrated by playing some old-fashioned games popular in  Josephine's youth, as well as by partaking in some Josephine-themed arts and crafts.

Ida Wight (9), of Dunedin, got in on the action by painting a wooden locomotive during the festivities.

The museum’s hands-on wooden toy locomotive sessions proved a big hit.

At 1pm, mother-daughter duo Em and Me entertained revellers with a live musical performance.
