A visitor to the Dunedin Railway Station frolics behind a bed of tulips yesterday, which have bloomed, undeterred by the recent cold snap.

Tulips were advertised for sale in New Zealand as early as 1850.

Reportedly, a Patriotic Tulip Fete was held in Dunedin in 1916 and proved so popular police had to be called to control the crowds.
