University of Otago scientist, author and film-maker Prof Lloyd Spencer Davis has received a United States award for his scientific and film-making work.
Prof Davis helped establish the university's science communication programme in 2008 and is the current director of the Otago Centre for Science Communication and Stuart Professor of Science Communication.
He was awarded the 2013 Ronald B. Tobias Award for Achievement in Science and Natural History Film-making Education at a recent ceremony at Montana State University. Prof Davis, who has also held a Fulbright Fellowship, said he was ''chuffed'' to have his contributions to science and natural history film-making education recognised.
He has been producing films since 1985. They include the multiple award-winning Meet the Real Penguins.
