Vintage occasion to take pride in

Decked out in vintage fashion, Mia Kitchingman (left) and Bella Wright (both 14), enjoy Dunedin’s youth pride ball at the Otago Museum on Saturday night.

Dunedin Pride co-co-ordinator Poppy Williams said Dunedin Pride’s LGBTQ youth group, Alphabet Soup, picked a theme of "vintage decades" for the ball. The high school-aged crowd of about 120 mostly dressed in 1960s, 1980s, and 1920s costumes, but even a couple of fairies and elves showed up.

The night was a great success, she said.

"It was fabulous, honestly," she said.

"It was just an amazing experience."

Our journalists are your neighbours

We are the South's eyes and ears in crucial council meetings, at court hearings, on the sidelines of sporting events and on the frontline of breaking news.

As our region faces uncharted waters in the wake of a global pandemic, Otago Daily Times continues to bring you local stories that matter.

We employ local journalists and photographers to tell your stories, as other outlets cut local coverage in favour of stories told out of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
