Newlyweds Stan and Debi Dysart (49) glide down the dinosaur slide at Dunedin's Marlow Park on New Year's Eve.

Mr Dysart proposed in early December last year with the condition the knot be tied before the year's end.

Instead of walking down the aisle, Mrs Dysart decided to slide down the ''funky'' dinosaur behind her bridesmaids - daughters Jessie (28) and Libby (20) Sinclair, Nissy (11) and Madi (8) Dysart and granddaughter Amelia Bunn (2) - to her groom, and his groomsmen, waiting at the bottom.

She wore a red wedding dress, the bridal party was dressed in purple and the 120 guests were dressed in lime green.

''It was gorgeous,'' Mrs Dysart said.

The couple departed for their ''funnymoon'' yesterday and the destination was unknown.

''We are going to take a lime green car and just drive and where we end up, we just don't know ... we are old but we are a couple of teenagers at heart.''
