A baby is taken for a stroll on an idyllic winter’s day along Portsmouth Dr, Dunedin, yesterday. MetService forecaster Gerard Bellam said a "stagnant airmat" of fog settled over the city after moisture from the subtropics formed a "misty and spooky" low stratus cloud in the eastern shoreline of the South Island. The fog had covered the east coast from North Otago down to the Clutha district. Mr Bellam said fog was also scattered across inland Otago, Alexandra and Wānaka.. The fog was expected to dissipate overnight. Today’s forecast for Dunedin is for one or two showers with sunny breaks developing in the afternoon and a maximum temperature of 11°C.
