The Sea

With every breath he rolls in, then out,Washing up shells and lost treasures,
His silky aquamarine skin shimmers in the sunlight,
Covered in a million white diamonds.

One moment he is calm,
Sleeping peacefully.

But all of a sudden,
Lightning rips the sky,
Tearing him back from his quiet slumber.

His blue body heaves,
Sending waves down the beach,
Frothing and foaming,
Toppling boats,
Smashing rocks,
Destroying the shores.

And when all this chaos comes to an end,
He falls back to sleep.

The storm wanders off,
The sun bounces on to his skin.

Gentle waves rock him in his slumber,
The gulls' cry a lullaby.
