Staff at Wanaka's Federal Diner will go (almost) topless for charity tomorrow, when they host a breakfast for the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation's Pink Ribbon Breakfast campaign running throughout May.

"Because we're right at the end of the month I just wanted to do something . . . fun and a little bit different," cafe co-owner Emilie Brosnahan said.

"We're predominantly women that work at Federal Diner and we thought it was a good idea to encourage the fact that we have healthy breasts and we thought that in getting them out it would make a very fun breakfast," Miss Brosnahan said.

Staff would be wearing pink aprons and "not much else", but the event would be done in a "very classy" way.

At the breakfast from 10am tomorrow, items including cupcake-icing lessons with staff members will be auctioned.

Tickets are $35 and can only be bought before the event from Federal Diner.
