A six-year-old boy who went missing after leaving his Auckland home on Tuesday night has been found.

An alert was issued for the boy, after he left his house in Wiri following an argument with his family.

He had not returned home by 7pm and his grandmother reported him missing.

MetService data showed overnight temperatures in the area dropped to as low as 4°C. 

In a statement, police said the boy was found safe and well on Wednesday morning.
