Eight injured after car and bus collide

A pregnant woman and two children were among the injured after a bus and a car collided on Auckland's Hibiscus Coast this afternoon.

The woman, children and another woman were in the car at the time of the crash, at the intersection of Red Beach Rd and Bay St on the Whangaparaoa Peninsula about 3.45pm.

All four suffered minor injuries. Four of the bus passengers suffered moderate to minor injuries, police said.

The car was travelling on Bay St and the bus on Red Beach Rd when the crash happened, a worker at the nearby Four Square said.

"There were two ladies and two kids in the car, and one of the ladies was pregnant," the worker said.

The pregnant woman was not badly injured, he said.

A local woman who was on her way to work at the Four Square said the front of the bus was "concaved" after the collision.

"There was broken glass everywhere, the car was wrecked and its tyres were all skewed."
