Fog hits flights at Christchurch Airport

Flights in and out of Christchurch are disrupted by fog this morning, and services to Dunedin and Queenstown have been affected.

At least 30 domestic flights have been affected, including the main routes to Wellington and Auckland, after thick fog descended on the city.

Check-in for all Air New Zealand flights at Christchurch Airport has been suspended.

Air New Zealand's flight information shows at least 25 flights have been delayed and five cancelled.

Herald aviation reporter Grant Bradley, who is currently stranded at the terminal, said all passengers were being told to queue to have their flights rebooked for later departures.

Christchurch Airport spokeswoman Yvonne Densem said fog was causing some flight disruption to only domestic flights at this stage.

People were advised to check with their airline for latest flight information.

Meanwhile, the fog is moving into Christchurch city with drivers being warned to use headlights, not just parking lights on roads.
