Gang sets up cage fighting club

Notorious motorcycle gang, the Head Hunters are running a cage fighting club out of a new Hutt Valley headquarters.

Patched-up members have converted a two-storey warehouse on Goodshed Rd in Upper Hutt into a gym called Capital Gang Club.

They say it is a youth facility, and have vowed to stage several cage fighting events a year.

A Facebook group page has been set up to advertise the brutal fights, and members are even selling a range of fight club clothing online.

Several people have already been asking organisers when training will start and how much membership fees will be.

Police are concerned, however, that the club is merely a front for the feared gang to ramp up its activity in the area, and are using the club as a gang pad.

The Head Hunter Motorcycle Club, formed in Glen Innes in 1967, has had a chequered history; linked to shootings, intimidation, and drug dealing.

Earlier this year, seven high-ranking members of the outlaw gang had charges relating to a million dollars' worth of methamphetamine dropped.

The president of the motorcycle gang - David James Dunn - still faces charges relating to the drugs and will stand trial next month.
