Interpol to track Hamilton murder victim's family

Police investigating the murder of a Hamilton woman are working with Interpol to notify family members of her death.

The 53-year-old woman was found dead at a suburban Frankton address shortly before noon yesterday. The formal identification process was completed overnight but police needed to ensure the woman's family had been notified before her name was released, Detective Inspector Russell Le Prou said.

"We're currently working to locate a member of the family believed to be in Western Australia and hope to have made contact by the end of the day," he said.

Witness interviews and scene examinations at the addresses of both the victim and offender were continuing today.

Mr Le Prou said investigators were waiting on the results of the post mortem to determine cause of death.

A 40-year-old woman was yesterday arrested in relation to the incident and was due to appear in Hamilton District Court today charged with murder.
