A man in his 20s has died after falling off a swing bridge in a Kapiti Coast gorge.
A St John spokesman said it was called to the incident at Otaki Gorge Rd near Otaki at 5.45pm.
Police and the Fire Service also attended.
The 62m-long steel bridge over the Otaki River is at the western side of the Tararua Range to Otaki Forks.
It is at the start of several tracks into the range.
