A man has died after falling off a commercial charter boat north of Auckland.
Emergency services were called to Shelly Beach Head, about 19km north of Parakai, just before 10.30am.
They said the boat was in the Kaipara Harbour.
A spokesperson for Coastguard said they understood a man had fallen overboard but had since been pulled back onto the boat. She said he suffered a medical event once back on board the vessel.
Westpac Rescue Helicopter and Kaipara Coastguard's Winstone Rescue vessel were on their way to the scene.
