A 40-year-old man appeared in Christchurch District Court today facing 51 charges of sex and violence involving two girls.
The man, granted name suppression, entered no pleas and was remanded in custody to appear in Timaru District Court on July 19.
The charges include: 22 of doing an indecent act with a girl aged under 12, and five with a girl aged 12 to 16; 13 of unlawful sexual connection with a girl under 12 and two with a girl aged 12 to 16; one charge of attempted rape on a girl aged under 12; assault on a child; and two of assault with intent to injure.
