Elder, 20, and Connor Morris, 20, appeared in Auckland District Court today on charges of possessing the class A drug methamphetamine for supply.
Both were remanded to appear again on November 21 but Elder's lawyer Chris Comesky, asked if she could be excused from attending the pre-depositions hearing because it was only to set a date for a depositions hearing.
"She can follow court procedure and be here next time," Judge Phillipa Cunningham replied.
Elder was arrested this month in an Auckland city apartment and spent the night in police custody.
Today she was called into the dock first and stood with her back to the court before joined by Morris.
Today was initially set down as a pre-depositions date to set a date for a depositions hearing to decide if a prima facie case had been established.
However, the court was told police were not in a position to go ahead with more time needed for an analysis of drugs found.
