Mum and toddler escape car inferno

A mum and toddler escaped a fire which destroyed their vehicle in Gore today.

Volunteer firefighters were called to Coutts Rd, Gore, following reports a car was on fire, about 10.42am.

The occupants - a woman and her toddler - escaped the vehicle before it burst into flames.

"The car was fully involved when the brigade arrived,'' Gore Volunteer Fire Brigade Chief fire officer Steve Lee, of Gore, said.

Six firefighters, including two with breathing apparatus, extinguished the blaze.

No-one was hurt in the incident

The fire started under a front seat of the vehicle, which was destroyed in the blaze.

The fire was not being treated as suspicious.
