Police have named two people killed in road accidents since the new year began.
Patrick Kirikowhai Karauti, 69, died when his tanker, believed to be carrying whey, crashed on January 2 at Reporoa, 42km southeast of Rotorua.
Linsday Hale, 51, died after he failed to negotiate a moderate right hand bend 27km southwest of Balclutha, the Southland Times reported.
Last night, a driver and two children were killed when their car collided with a truck in Ngahinapouri, 16km south-west of Hamilton.
The crash happened just after 10pm on Kakaramea Road, Inspector Barry Smalley said.
The driver of the car and two children died at the scene.
The driver and passenger of the truck were not injured.
The holiday road toll, which ends at 6am Monday, stands at 20. Nine people have died on the roads since 2009 began.
Rihaere King, 20, of Manukau South Auckland died in a three-vehicle crash on State Highway 2 at Whakamarama, 22km southwest of Tauranga, yesterday.
Police named a motorcyclist found dead outside Queenstown on Thursday, as Peter Lockett, 48, from Kingston.
He was found with his motorbike down a bank off SH 6, between Frankton and Kingston, having apparently ridden off the road.
A 50-year-old Swedish tourist, Goran Oskarsson, was killed on January 1 when the campervan he was driving crashed at the intersection of State Highways 47 and 48, near National Park Village.
The same day Raymond Douglas Brown, 33, was hit by a northbound car in the town centre while walking along the middle of State Highway 57, Levin.
