No Shrek exhibition this year

The unveiling of the preserved body of hermit sheep Shrek will not take place until next year.

Following Shrek's death in June 2011 at Bendigo Station, near Tarras, some of his remains were mounted by Queenstown taxidermist David Jacobs and sent to Te Papa museum in Wellington earlier this year for a display.

In September, a spokeswoman from Te Papa said November was set down as the tentative launch date for the Shrek exhibition.

However, a different spokesperson told the Otago Daily Times this week there had ''never been plans confirmed for an exhibition of Shrek the Sheep to open in 2013''. However, a spokesperson said Te Papa was still working on the project.

Shrek's owner, John Perriam, could not be reached for comment on the planned unveiling this week.
