A person has died in a house fire in Christchurch overnight.
Emergency services were called to the property in Clent Lane in the suburb of Spreydon just before 10.30pm.
One person died and several people were assessed at the scene but there were no other injuries, an ambulance spokesman said.
A fire safety officer will be at the scene today to try to establish the cause of the blaze.
The fire has now been extinguished.
