Police impersonator discharged without conviction

A man who fitted police-style blue and red lights to his car as a stag-night prank has escaped condviction.

Tuan Tran Quan pleaded guilty in Wellington District Court last week to impersonating a police officer.

Quan covered two lights which could be made to flash alternatively with red and blue balloons,

He then pulled over a car on the Wellington motorway during a stag night out.

Quan was discharged without conviction and ordered to $500 towards the prosecution costs.
